Your eyes deserve more than a quick check
At Jacksons, we allow 45 minutes for your enhanced eye examination, giving us time to check your vision, thoroughly assess your eye health and discuss any concerns you may have.
Your examination includes both OCT and Optomap retinal imaging, helping us see more of what’s happening inside your eyes.
And before you leave, we’ll explain our findings clearly, so you understand your eye health and any recommendations we make.
What Happens At Your Enhanced Eye Examination
Every eye examination is tailored to you, but here’s what you can typically expect during your visit.
Discussion
We begin by asking about your vision, eye health, medical history and any difficulties you’re experiencing with your eyesight.
Examination
We’ll check your vision and prescription, examine the health of your eyes and carry out the clinical tests appropriate for you.
Advanced Imaging
We take OCT and Optomap scans to examine the structures beneath the retina’s surface and capture a wide view of the back of your eyes.
Your Results and Next Steps
We’ll talk you through your results, explain anything we’ve found and advise whether you need new glasses, monitoring or further care.
Advanced Technology
Our enhanced eye examinations include advanced technology that allows us to examine your eyes in greater detail, sometimes revealing changes that aren’t visible during conventional testing.
Optomap Widefield Retinal Imaging
Captures a wide view of your retina, including areas towards the periphery that are difficult to see during a conventional examination.
Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT)
Produces detailed cross-sectional images of your retina, helping us identify and monitor changes beneath its surface.
Slit Lamp and Indirect Ophthalmoscopy
Allows us to examine the front and back of your eyes in detail, looking for signs of eye conditions or other abnormalities.
Eye Pressure Measurement
Measures the pressure inside your eyes, an important part of assessing your risk of glaucoma.
Digital Prescription Assessment
Our digital refraction system helps us fine-tune your spectacle prescription, making it easier to compare lens choices and find the clearest, most comfortable vision.
