Varifocals
Varifocals are designed to help people who have developed problems with their reading vision to see clearly at all distances see clearly without having to keep changing their spectacles. Varifocal lens design has improved since their introduction in the late 1950s and today. In early varifocals, the vision was only clear through the very centre of the lens and sudden head movements could make some wearers feel unwell. Today, the best lenses give almost edge to edge vision with little distortion and minimal swim effect on head movement.
