We get it – talking about money can feel uncomfortable, especially when it comes to your vision care. You might find yourself wondering about costs but hesitating to ask during your appointment.
That’s completely normal!
We believe transparency makes everything easier, so we’ve gathered the most common pricing questions our patients have.
No judgement, no surprises – just straightforward answers to help you plan your eyecare.

How much is an eye examination?
Our comprehensive 45-minute eye examination with a senior optometrist is £85 for private patients. Many of our NHS patients choose to upgrade to this enhanced service for £60, which includes all the advanced scans and photographs of the private examination.
Every appointment is delivered in a welcoming setting by our experienced team, with care tailored to you.
Enhanced eye examinations use state-of-the-art technology, including Digital Widefield Retinal Imaging and Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), to provide exceptional insight into your eye health.
The result is an examination that is thorough, comfortable, and reassuring – giving you complete confidence in both your vision and your long-term eye health.

How much is an NHS sight test?
NHS funded sight tests
NHS sight tests in England are funded by the National Health Service and there is therefore no charge for eligible patients, including those over 60 and people with a family history of glaucoma. However, we strongly recommend upgrading to our enhanced eye examination for an additional £60. This comprehensive service includes advanced diagnostic technology and extended consultation time, giving you a more thorough assessment of your eye health and vision needs. This is particularly inportant where there is a family history of eye disease such as glaucoma or macula degeneration and for older patients where eye disease becomes more common.

How much are spectacle lenses?
WWeWWe only offer our patients the best which is why we work with premium lens manufacturer Essilor. One of our roles as eye care practitioners is to give you the best vision possible which is why we are not prepared to compromise on the quality of the lenses we use.
The price of spectacle lenses depends mainly on the type of lens you need, varifocals for example are more expensive than single vision lenses. If you require to have the lens made thinner and lighter or want photochromic lenses which change colour with the sun, this will add a little too.
As with our frames, we have many different options available and our optometrists and dispensers will give you expert advice to help you select the best lenses for you based on your visual needs, prescription and frame selection.
As a guide, our single vision lenses start from around £150, while varifocals begin just under £300.
