Contact Lens FAQ’s
Can I wear contact lenses if I have dry eyes or need varifocals?
Absolutely. We fit multifocal contact lenses (sometimes called varifocal contact lenses) designed for people who need both distance and near vision correction.
For patients with higher or unusual prescriptions, we work with specialist labs to supply custom-made lenses—so you don’t need to compromise on vision or comfort.

Are contact lenses safe to wear every day?
When fitted correctly and cared for properly, contact lenses are very safe for daily use.
At Jacksons Styling Opticians in Nantwich, we specialise in ensuring your lenses are the right type for your eyes, whether that’s daily disposable contact lenses, monthly lenses, or specialist lenses for dry eyes. We’ll show you the best hygiene practices and schedule regular contact lens aftercare appointments to keep your eyes healthy.
With the right fitting and ongoing care, contact lenses are a safe, comfortable and convenient alternative to glasses for everyday wear.

I’ve tried contact lenses before and they weren’t comfortable. Can you help?
Our specialist fitting process takes the time to understand why your old lenses didn’t work and matches you with the right option for your eyes and lifestyle.

Can you fit contact lenses if I’ve been told I’m not suitable?
Thanks to modern technology, we can fit specialist contact lenses, including toric lenses for astigmatism, multifocal contact lenses for varifocal wearers, and custom-made contact lenses for complex prescriptions.
Our experience means we regularly help patients who were told elsewhere that contact lenses weren’t possible.

What happens during a contact lens fitting?
You’ll also receive full training on how to insert, remove, and care for your lenses.
Whether you’re trying contact lenses for the first time or switching to specialist lenses, our fittings are designed to be supportive, unrushed, and tailored to your needs.

Are contact lenses safe for long-term use?
With proper hygiene and regular contact lens aftercare appointments, they’re a safe and convenient alternative to glasses. Our role is to keep your eyes healthy with regular checks and advice.

What if my lenses still don’t feel right once I’ve taken them home?
We book a follow up to see how your eyes are getting on in real life.
If needed, we’ll adjust your prescription or switch to a different lens material. With options such as daily disposables, RGP lenses (rigid gas permeable), or lenses for dry eyes, we can usually solve any problems quickly.
